Validating a National Strategy Proposal for Forest Landscape Restoration in Kyrgyzstan

National Forest Policy Dialogue

23 June (9:00) - 24 June (18:00) 2022
Bishkek Kyrgyzstan

The UNECE/FAO Forestry and Timber Section and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan organized a National Forest Policy Dialogue on “Validating a National Strategy Proposal for Forest Landscape Restoration in Kyrgyzstan”. It took place in Bishkek from 23 to 24 June 2022.

The main goal of this National Forest Policy Dialogue was to validate a national strategy proposal for forest landscape restoration, which has been developed under the UNECE/FAO project “Strengthening policy framework on forest landscape restoration in selected UNECE countries to achieve SDG 15”.

This was achieved through:

  • A review of the draft strategy in small groups of relevant stakeholders
  • A review of the draft strategy’s mission statement and vision of success in the context of the country’s environmental, social, and economic needs
  • An assessment of related, necessary short-term actions as well as strategic issues to support FLR efforts

The National Forest Policy Dialogue will be held in an interactive and informal format, where experts can share experiences and views, and all have an opportunity to contribute.
