Inauguration of UNECE Forest

(World Habitat Day, in person)

04 October 2022 8:30 - 9:00
San Marino

A tribute to UNECE’s 75th anniversary, but more importantly, an initiative to increase urban green spaces and protect biodiversity in San Marino. With this in view, 75 different trees were planted in San Marino to create the UNECE tiny forest. Field maples, evergreen oaks, white poplars and other types of trees native to the area were planted following the Miyawaki model, which allows to create biodiverse forest ecosystems quickly in small spaces, whilst delivering all the benefits of forests to urban areas.

Bringing forests to urban areas, will not only provide connect current and future generations to nature, it will  create healthy, more sustainable, and resilient urban spaces.
