18 December: UNECE has released the 2010-2 UN/LOCODE directory.

13 December: The UN/CEFACT Edifact directory version D.10B has been approved and is now available on the UN/EDIFACT website.

18 November: The UN/CEFACT Edifact directory version D.10A has now been approved and is now available on the UN/EDIFACT website. ICG would like to apologise for any inconvenience the delay in publication has caused.

15 November: ICG has approved draft revision 8 of Recommendation 23 (Freight Cost Codes) for public review until 28 January 2011. Comments should be sent to David Dobbing.

29 October: UNECE has released the 2010-1 UN/LOCODE directory.

8 October:  UNECE has approved Recommendation 35 “Establishing a legal framework for an international trade Single Window”, which was adopted through the process of intersessional approval.  It is available for download on the UN/CEFACT website.  For further information, see the UNECE Press Release.

14 September: ICG has approved revision 7 of the code lists for UNECE Recommendation 20 (Codes for Units of Measure used in International Trade) for download.

8 September: The UN/CEFACT Schema library version D.09B has been approved and is now available on the UN/CEFACT website for download.

8 September: The UN/CEFACT Edifact directory version D.10A has now been approved and is now available on the UN/CEFACT website.
Note: A small error has been discovered in the recent release of the D.10A directory which has resulted in the need to temporarily withdraw it from circulation until a correction has been made. This will ensure that development with the directory in question does not cause problems during implementation. UN/CEFACT apologises for this inconvenience and will be rectifying the problem as speedily as possible. M. Conroy, ICG Chair

20 August: Revision 8.1 of the code lists for UNECE Recommendation 21 (Codes for passengers, types of cargo, packages and packaging materials), Annex V and Annex VI (Coded representations of package type names) has been released by the ICG to correct a code value assignment error in Revision 8.

11 August 2010: Draft recommendation 35 (English, French and Russian) has been submitted to the Heads of Delegation for intersessional approval by 8 October 2010

12 July: TBG has approved Recommendation No 34 "Simplification and Standardization for International Trade" for renewed public review (Open Development Process (ODP) Step 5) until August 15, 2010. Comments should be sent to Johan Pontén.

2 July: ICG has approved draft revision 7 of Recommendation 20 (Codes for Units of Measure) for public review until 13 August 2010. Comments should be sent to David Dobbing.

21 June: TBG has approved the TBG12 BRS "Accounting Journal List" for public review (Open Development Process (ODP) Step 5) until July 21, 2010. Comments should be sent to Michel Lesourd.

7 June: TBG has approved UN/CEFACT Digital Evidence Certification Recommendation for public review (Open Development Process (ODP) Step 5) until July 8, 2010. Comments should be sent to the Project Leader François Devoret.

19 May: ICG has approved revision 7 of the code lists for UNECE Recommendation 23 (Freight Cost Code).

12 May: PLEASE NOTE: Omissions and a minor correction in CCL09B have been identified and require release of CCL09B.1 as soon as possible. Full details and a proposed timeline for a corrected library will be available shortly.

19 April: TBG has approved the TBG1 BRS "Cross Industry Quotation" for public review (Open Development Process (ODP) Step 5) until May 20, 2010. Comments should be sent to Coen Janssen.

16 April: The Forum Management Group has decided to cancel the scheduled 16th session of the UN/CEFACT Forum at the United Nations Economic Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), Bangkok, Thailand, from 26 to 30 April 2010

10 March: TBG has approved the TBG1 BRS "Cross Industry Remittance Advice" for public review (Open Development Process (ODP) Step 5) until April 15, 2010. Comments should be sent to Coen Janssen.

2 March: TMG has approved publication of the UML profile for UN/CEFACT's Modeling Methodology (UMM) foundation module and base module for second round implementation verification (Open Development Process, Step 6, second iteration). This version incorporates all comments adjudicated during the first implementation verification period. New comments should be sent to the project leader Christian Huemer. The first review of comments will take place during the UN/CEFACT Forum meeting 26 - 30 April 2010 in Bangkok, Thailand.

19 February : TBG has approved the TBG18 BRS "Electronic Data Exchange Proxy" for publication (Open Development Process (ODP) Step 7). It can be downloaded from BRS page.

8 February : UNECE has released the 2009-2 UN/LOCODE directory.

5 February : TMG has approved the UML profile for Core Components (UPCC) - for public review (Open Development Process, Step 5) until 26 April 2010. Comments should be sent to the project leader Philipp Liegl. The first review of comments will take place during the UN/CEFACT Forum meeting 26 - 30 April 2010 in Bangkok, Thailand.

27 January: UN/CEFACT is currently undertaking three gap analysis projects to determine: the current needs of stakeholders for open international standards for electronic international trade data messages and which standards stakeholders would like UN/CEFACT to deliver as priorities; an assessment of the knowledge that stakeholders have regarding the UN/CEFACT Core Component Library (CCL), which contains the data elements needed to complete messages, and the usability or otherwise of the CCL; the technical specifications that underpin message assembly and assure that messages can be interpreted by different systems.
UN/CEFACT intends to prepare a report on its findings by the end of February 2010. Stakeholders are invited to provide their views on the above topics through the dedicated questionnaire prepared by UN/CEFACT. For more information please refer to

8 January: UN/CEFACT has approved publication of UN/CEFACT XML Naming and Design Rules V3.0 of 17 December 2009. This specification enables the XML syntax binding of CCTS Version 3.0 and Data Type Catalogue Version 3.0 artefacts and is available at: http://www.unece.org/cefact/xml/UNCEFACT+XML+NDR+V3p0.pdf

17 December: UN/CEFACT has approved version 3.0 of the Core Components Technical Specification (CCTS) and version 3.0 of the Core Components Data Type Catalogue, following their approval by the TMG and ATG respectively on 27 October 2009 (see relevant announcements on this web page). For further information, see the UNECE Press Release of 17 December 2009.

27 October: TBG has approved the Cross Industry Invoice V2.0 for publication (Open Development Process (ODP) Step 7).

27 October: ATG has approved the UN/CEFACT Core Components Data Type Catalogue Version 3.0 and it is now available for download.

27 October: TMG has approved the Core Components Technical Specification (CCTS) Version 3.0 and it is now available for download.

8 November: Despite of several rounds of quality checks carried out by TBG4, ATG and ICG with the help of special software and also through manual desk-checks, the following errors still found their way into the D.09A directory publication of GOVCBR. These identified errors can be corrected as follows:
(i) Trigger segments (MEA) at 4310, 7630 and 9470 lines can only be repeated once.
(ii) DTM to be added in line 6350 into SG152 as well as SG153; and COM segment to be added into SG29, SG60 and SG228.
In the D09A publications these segments are hanging without any relation to their respective parent segment groups. These problems will be definitively resolved in the D.09B publication of the UN/EDIFACT directories.

29 June: TBG has approved the TBG12 Business Requirements Specification (BRS) "Chart of Accounts" for publication (Open Development Process (ODP) Step 7). The BRS "Chart of Accounts" can be downloaded from DAM/cefact/brs/brs_index.htm.

22 October: The UN/CEFACT D.09A UN/EDIFACT Library has now been approved for publication by the ICG. ATTENTION: This new release has introduced a message that required a modification to the “UN/CEFACT RULES FOR PRESENTATION OF STANDARDIZED MESSAGE AND DIRECTORIES DOCUMENTATION”, R1023, to enable its publication. The modification concerns the size of the number of characters needed for section 4.3.1, the segment table. This has now been increased from its initial size of 70 characters to 75 characters. The change may cause problems with programs that extract the information from the message directory (EDMD). R1023 can be downloaded from the following link: http://www.unece.org/cefact/cf_plenary/plenary09/Misc_01.pdf. This document has also been incorporated in the library download package for this release

17 July: TBG has approved the TBG1 BRS "Cross Industry Invoice V2.0" (Specification_BRS Cross Industry Invoicing Process 2_00_05.doc ) for a second iteration of public review with updates from the first round, including comments from EEI, (Open Development Process (ODP) Step 5) until August 28, 2009. 3 February: XML Schema directory D.08A has been approved and is now available for download. This release incorporates three new message types: Export Certification (eCert), Data Crop Sheet (eDAPLOS) and Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS).

27 January: The joint TBG18/TBG12 BRS on "Financial Reporting” is out for public review by March 27, 2009. Comments should be sent to Bruno Prépin, Chair of TBG18 (Agriculture). .

15 January: The report of the 14th session of UN/CEFACT has now been approved and the secretariat has submitted it for the third session of the UNECE Committee on Trade.

2 January: ATG has approved the XML Naming and Design Rules Technical Specification for second public review period which will end on 21 January 2009

2 January: TMG has approved the Core Component Technical Specification CCTS 3.0 Second Iteration Open Development Process 6 (ODP 6) for public implementation verification.

2 January : TBG1 has now released the Cross Industry Scheduling Process Business Requirements Specification for public review under ODP5. The BRS aims at standardizing the business processes, the business transactions and the information entities of the exchange of data used by industries in the scheduling processes of supply chain,and is out for public review until 15 February 2009. Comments should be sent to Coen Janssen.

16 September: XML Schema directory D.07B has been audited and is now available on the Internet. The directory can be accessed on the UNECE Web Server. The maintenance is now finalized.

12 September : The audited Requirements Specification Mapping (RSM) documents for the eCert (Export Certification - Sanitary and Phyto-Sanitary Certificate) and the eDAPLOS (Crop Data Sheet process) are available for download.

20 August : UN/CEFACT published the UN/CEFACT Business Requirements Specification (BRS) for the "Buy-Ship-Pay" model for International Trade in 2007. The TBG has now finalised in accordance with the ODP a data model based on the standard UN/CEFACT Core Component Library and have updated the original BRS accordingly. >.>.>.>.

20 August : ATG is pleased to announce that the XML Naming and Design Rules version 3.0 is now at ODP5 - public review. Public review period will run from now until 20 September 2008. Comments should be sent to [email protected] and [email protected].
