The eighty-third session of the UNECE Committee on Urban Development, Housing and Land Management took place at the Kursaal Congress Centre, San Marino (3-6 October 2022). The host country offered a field trip with interesting activities on 7 October 2022.

The eighty-third session of the Committee supported regional exchange of experiences and good practices promoting affordable, adequate and climate-neutral housing; and inclusive, circular, smart and sustainable cities as part of countries’ response to and recovery plans for the COVID-19 pandemic. The Committee session also reviewed implementation of the “Place and Life in the ECE – A Regional Action Plan 2030” which was endorsed by the Committee at its eighty-second session.

Inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable cities require sustainable and inclusive urban design and architecture

Co-organized by UNECE and the Geneva Cities Hub
Back-to-back with the 83rd session of the UNECE Committee on Urban Development, Housing and Land Management.

The In Focus: SDG 11 event is a platform for a refreshing dialogue on how cities and their networks as well as relevant organizations and stakeholders address global challenges that are traditionally discussed by States in multilateral fora. The In Focus: SDG 11 aims at better linking intergovernmental debates on issues related to SDG11 with what cities and their networks, and other stakeholders are doing on the ground. The event has been organized each year by UNECE since 2018 and the Geneva Cities Hub has partnered with UNECE on this event since 2019.
