ONLINE workshop “COVID-19 and Property Markets: How is the pandemic affecting property markets in the UNECE region?"

15 April 2021
1 - 2:30 p.m. (CET) Switzerland

The  webinar COVID-19 and Property Markets How is the pandemic affecting property markets in the UNECE region? looked at the recent development and most important driving forces underpinning national property markets; examples on how national land registries are coping with challenges and maintaining crucial societal services at a normal level; and how private sector are tackling social restrictions and adopting to the situation. The webinar was jointly organized by the UNECE Working Party on Land Administration and The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

The pandemic has hit national economies with no exception for property markets all over the world. We observe a lot of data coming out on the impact of COVID-19 on property markets. While some countries strive with another big challenge on top of a multiplicity of already existing economic, political and social challenges, other countries report growing activity, number of sales and average prices, despite lockdowns and various restrictions to conduct property valuations and inspections.

This is the second webinar of a series of joint WPLA – FAO webinars on “Land Administration during the COVID-19 pandemic”. Conclusions, outcomes and learning from these exchanges will be presented at the twelfth Session of the UNECE Working Party on Land Administration on 31 May and 1 June 2021.

Simultaneous interpretation in English and Russian was provided.
