The new version of the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road, ADR 2015, which includes the amendments that entered into force on 1 January 2015 (with a six months transitional period), is available.
The ADR details the conditions under which dangerous goods (chemicals, explosives, etc.) may be carried internationally, as well as uniform provisions concerning the construction and operation of vehicles carrying dangerous goods. It also establishes international requirements and procedures for the training and safety obligations of participants. Those requirements are regularly examined, amended and updated to adapt them to technological and industrial progress by a working group composed of experts and competent authorities from the Contracting Parties (48 countries).
The 2015 Edition contains in particular new or revised provisions concerning the transport of adsorbed gases; lithium batteries (including damaged or defective lithium batteries, lithium batteries for disposal or recycling); asymmetric capacitors; discarded packagings; ammonium nitrate and radioactive material (it is fully harmonized with the 2012 edition of the IAEA Regulations for the Safe Transport of Radioactive Material SSR-6); testing of gas cartridges and fuel cell cartridges; marking of bundles of cylinders; and the applicability of ISO standards to the manufacture of new pressure receptacles or service equipment.
