The eighth meeting of the Task Force on Water Food Energy Ecosystems Nexus marks ten years of work on the theme of cross-sectoral cooperation under the Water Convention. The meeting was an occasion to take stock of the work done so far, to discuss the future activities that are part of the programme of work for 2022-2024 of the Water Convention, and to discuss the future of the Task Force in the next programme of work 2025-2027.
The meeting was opened to experts representing governmental authorities, the private sector, non-governmental and international organizations as well as other interested stakeholders.
The meeting focused on:
- Taking stock of the 10 years of work on water-food-energy-ecosystems nexus under the Water Convention;
- Financing cross-sectoral solutions: multi-benefit and multi-source investments;
- Discussing the role of transboundary water cooperation for the energy transition;
- Mainstreaming nexus in global climate and environmental processes of cooperation;
- Water allocation in transboundary contexts, with new examples;
- Discussing the future of the Task Force.
The eighth meeting of the Task Force started at 10.00 a.m. on Thursday, 7 December 2022 and ended at 16.00 p.m. on Friday, 8 December 2023. It was held in a hybrid manner in the Palais des Nations, Geneva.
The Task Force meeting was preceded by the Global Workshop on Funding and Financing Transboundary Cooperation, which was held on 5-6 December 2023. The working languages were English, French, Russian, and Spanish.
