Committee on Environmental Policy
Introduction
UNECE work on environmental matters dates back to 1971, when the group of Senior Advisors to the UNECE Governments on environmental issues was created, which led to the establishment of the UNECE Committee on Environmental Policy (CEP) in 1994.
In focus
CEP work is based on several strategic pillars, such as providing the secretariat to the Environment for Europe process and participating in the regional promotion of Agenda 21 and participating or facilitating the exchange of experience in a number of cross-sectoral activities undertaken under the leadership of UNECE (e.g. ESD, transport, health and environment), or in partnership with other organizations (e.g. environment and security initiative, European environment and health process).
