The “Environment for Europe” process is a unique partnership of member States within the UNECE region, organizations of the United Nations system represented in the region, other intergovernmental organizations, regional environmental centres, non-governmental organizations, the private sector and other major groups. The process and its Ministerial Conferences provide a high-level platform for stakeholders to discuss, decide and join efforts in addressing environmental priorities across the 56 countries of the UNECE region, and is a regional pillar of sustainable development. In focus

  At the Eighth Environment for Europe Ministerial Conference (Batumi, Georgia, 8-10 June 2016) ministers invited the Committee on Environmental Policy to convene a mid-term review to assess progress in the implementation of the main outcomes of the Batumi Conference. At its twenty-third session in November 2017, the Committee decided to organize a one-day mid-term review of the main outcomes of the Batumi Ministerial Conference as part of the Committee’s twenty-fourth session (Geneva, 29-31 January 2019).
