Habitat for Humanity Armenia, UNECE and UNDP in partnership with the United States Agency for International Development and Habitat for Humanity International jointly organize Conference: “Unveiling Market Opportunities for Boosting Residential Energy Efficiency and Alleviating Energy Poverty.”
The conference aims to explore the key market drivers for scaling up investments in energy efficiency in multi-apartment buildings which lead to alleviation of energy poverty through exchange of information and knowledge transfer from Eastern European countries; share the expertise of homeowner associations supporting mechanisms, bring important issues for discussion from policy perspectives till financial & technical solutions.
The conference is intended for stakeholders and practitioners engaged in residential energy efficiency sector. Participants may include key representatives from government representatives, policymakers, international organizations, non-governmental organizations, financial institutions, donor agencies, housing finance organizations, technology companies.
In the framework of the conference, UNECE will organize several workshops:
- Training workshop: Guidelines and Best Practices in Armenia for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in delivering energy efficient products and in providing renewable energy equipment on 10 March 2022, 10:00-12:00 time zone in Yerevan (GMT+4): this workshop will present findings of the report for Armenia. It aims to strengthen the capacity and resilience of MSMEs to mitigate the economic and social impact of the COVID-19 crisis. The workshop, which will discuss examples of best practices in the area of energy efficiency and renewable energy relevant for Armenian MSMEs, is organized jointly with the Ministry of Economy of Armenia and UNDP Armenia. Armenia is one of six pilot countries for which customized Guidelines and Best Practices have been developed under the UN Development Account project “Global Initiative towards post-Covid-19 resurgence of the MSME sector.”
- Workshop: Best practices to address the issues of energy efficiency in buildings and their implementation in the UNECE member States on 11 March 2022, 10:00-13:00, time zone in Yerevan (GMT+4): this workshop will present findings of the regional and national studies on implementation of energy efficiency standards in the countries, results of the trainings on high-performance energy efficiency standards in buildings, activities to enhance network of experts from public and private sectors on energy efficiency in buildings in the UNECE region. The workshop will particularly discuss how the developed best practices and guidelines can be better implemented to address the issues of energy efficiency in buildings in the UNECE member States.
- Workshop: Outcomes of the project “Global Initiative towards post-Covid-19 resurgence of the MSME sector: Guidelines and Best Practices for MSMEs in delivering energy efficient products and in providing renewable energy equipment” on 11 March 2022, 14:00-16:00, time zone in Yerevan (GMT+4): this workshop will present project activities, including findings of the regional and national Guidelines and Best Practices for MSMEs in delivering energy efficient products and in providing renewable energy equipment and results of the training workshops. The workshop will serve as a platform for pilot countries and other UNECE member States for exchange of experience and sharing best ways to support MSMEs working in the area of energy efficiency and renewable energy in the current economic and social conditions.
