As Parties and stakeholders embark on preparing a new Strategic Plan 2015-2020 to be adopted at the fifth session of the Meeting of the Parties (Netherlands, 30 June – 2 July 2014) the assessment of the current Strategic Plan offers an insight to which extent where objectives of the Strategic Plan 2009-2014 achieved and where Parties and stakeholders need to focus more in the next strategic period.
With the decision IV/8 on strategic planning (ECE/MP.PP/2011/2/Add.1) the Meeting of the Parties at its fourth session (Chisinau, 29 June – 1 July 2011) requested to assess the implementation of the current Strategic Plan 2009-2014 (ECE/MP.PP/2008/2/Add.16) of the Aarhus Convention.
With this in mind, the secretariat, in consultation with the Bureau, prepared a document Overview of implementation of the Strategic Plan 2009-2014 (AC/WGP-17/Inf.1).
The overview was prepared with the involvement of Parties as well as implementing partners, which engaged in consultations within their respective constituency, organizations and networks and contribute their inputs to the overview.
The overview of implementation was made available to the seventeenth meeting of the Working Group of the Parties (Geneva, 25-28 February 2014) for information.
