The meeting was in hybrid format- both online on zoom and in-person.
This workshop in Bishkek was organized by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) in cooperation with the City Government of Bishkek and with participation of representatives of national and local governments, United Nations agencies and other international organizations working on urban issues in Kyrgyzstan. The workshop launched the UNECE publication : Smart Sustainable Cities Profile Bishkek and reported on outcomes of the cooperation between UNECE, the City of Bishkek and other partners on the following two joint projects supported by the United Nations Development Account, Building Urban Economic Resilience during and after COVID-19 and Smart Sustainable Cities for the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development and the New Urban Agenda in the UNECE Region.
The workshop objectives:
- Launch a publication of the UNECE smart sustainable cities profile Bishkek and discuss implementation of its recommendations with the City Government of Bishkek, international partner organizations and relevant stakeholders
- Present and validate the Economic Recovery and Rebuilding Plan for the city of Bishkek developed as part of the UNECE project “Building Urban Economic Resilience during and after COVID-19”;
- Introduce the online e-learning course developed within the same project.
- Inform on the progress of the development of the Informal Settlements Project with the CDIA
