The Side Event was organized by the ITU, UN-Habitat, UNCDF, UNECE, UNEP, UNIDO, WHO, UNDP and WMO.

This event provided a platform to discuss various actions and solutions, highlighted activities carried out by the UN system to address climate change and presented strategic and innovative approaches for the new urban agenda. The event offered an avenue for participants and stakeholders to discuss how to shape the 21st century urbanization model in a climate-friendly way, based on preliminary findings from the One UN System input into the Habitat III process on cities, climate change and disaster risk management and smart sustainable cities, and other multi-stakeholder and partner initiatives.
