Our mission

Our mission is to support and help amplify the deployment of electric vehicle (EV) technology and infrastructure across the UNECE region and beyond. We aim to:

  • Raise Awareness: Stay informed about the latest in EV advancements and charging solutions.
  • Integrate Knowledge: Foster collaboration among countries, scientists, businesses, and NGOs to share interdisciplinary insights.
  • Support Policy Development: identify policy gaps and support the global harmonization of regulatory frameworks while considering regional and national specifities

 

Our Focus Areas
  • All Types of EVs: Keeping up with the latest developments surrounding all types of EVs, covering all inland modes of transport for both passengers and freight.
  • Recharging Infrastructure: Monitoring developments in EV charging stations and smart charging solutions, including bidirectional charging and grid interactions.
  • Interactions between vehicle/recharing infrastructure and power generation and supply: Explore avenues to ensure all the energy supplied to EVs is clean, low- and zero-carbon, with high standards for data accessibility, interoperability and user experience.

 

How We Work
  • Timeline: Our initial phase runs from 2024 to 2026, with the potential for extension.
  • Meetings: Biannual meetings, with additional subgroup sessions as needed. We embrace online and hybrid formats, making participation flexible and inclusive.
  • Collaboration: Our work is supported by UNECE's Sustainable Transport and Energy Divisions, ensuring comprehensive expertise and guidance.
  • Reporting: Regular updates and a final report to be presented in September 2026.

About Us

The Informal Task Force on E-Mobility is an initiative of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), supported by the Sustainable Transport and Sustainable Energy sub-programmes. It is mandated by the Inland Transport Committee (ITC) upon the request of the Working Party on Transport Trends and Economics (WP.5).
