As the energy sector undergoes a transformative shift, digitalization has emerged as a pivotal factor in enhancing energy efficiency and optimizing infrastructure.
This trend is integral to addressing global energy challenges, making it a critical topic for discussion to accelerate just, inclusive, and equitable energy transition for ensuring access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all.
UNECE Task Force on Digitalization in Energy underscores the importance of digital technologies in reshaping the energy landscape, and besides that, the behavioural science behind their broad adoption. By leveraging advanced technologies like data analytics and connectivity, digitalization can significantly increase system efficiency, providing a robust foundation for sustainable energy practices.
This side-event will explore the opportunities and challenges of integrating digital solutions across the energy sector, aiming to inform and inspire policy innovation. It will also serve as a platform to discuss the findings, fostering collaboration among policymakers, industry leaders, and stakeholders to ensure that digitalization not only enhances energy efficiency but also contributes to SDG7 and other Goals in relation to energy.
The role of digitalization and twin transition in the energy system transformation will be addressed, along with the issues of multilateral cooperation, innovation, regulation, and public-private partnerships.
