GENERATIONS AND GENDER PROGRAMME Survey Instruments

The Generations and Gender Programme (GGFP) is a system of national Generations and Gender Surveys (GGS) and contextual databases, which aims at improving the knowledge base for policy-making in the UNECE countries. The Generations and Gender Survey is a panel survey of a nationally representative sample of 18-79 year-old resident population in each participating country with at least three panel waves and an internal of three years between each wave. The contextual databases are designed to complement individual-level survey data in multi-level analyses. The Programme is co-ordinated by the UNECE Population Unit.
The main substantive goal of the GGP is to improve understanding of demographic and social development and of the factors that influence these developments, with a particular attention towards relationships between children and parents (generations) and relationships between partners (gender).
The publication includes the following documents: (1) GGS Sample Design Guidelines; (2) GGS Wave 1 Questionnaire Manual; (3) GGS Wave 1 Questionnaire; and (4) a Note on the Definitions and Documentation of the Final Disposition Codes. The aim of this publication is to contribute to the dissemination and use of these programme instruments.
