The launch event was organized by the Agency on Construction and Architecture of the Republic of Tajikistan, UNECE and the World Bank in cooperation with the UN Office of the Higher Commissioner for Human Rights. This meeting brought together key national and international stakeholders in housing and land management in Tajikistan. The outcomes of the Country Profile on housing and land management of Tajikistan, which were prepared and published by the UNECE in 2012, were presented and discussed. Representatives of the Government of Tajikistan have provided information about their activities in developing the country’s housing sector and in land management. Representatives of the UN agencies, the World Bank and other donors discussed the progress of their projects on land, spatial development and housing in Tajikistan. The launch event participants discussed possible future cooperative activities, which will help the Government of Tajikistan to implement the Country Profile policy recommendations.

UNECE Country Profiles on Housing and Land Management provide a detailed analysis of the housing and land management situation in the countries and highlight specific challenges which are of particular concern to the country in this area. The Country Profile document also puts forward practical recommendations to the government on how to improve the country’s housing and land policies.
