Opening of the Declaration on Gender Responsive Standards and Standards Development for signature

14 May 2019
Room XIV (Cinema Room), Palais des Nations Geneva Switzerland

The Working Party on Regulatory Cooperation and Standardization Policies (WP.6) opened the Declaration on ”Gender Responsive Standards and Standards Development” for signature on May 14 at the Palais des Nations, Geneva. For this, the Working Party had invited all standards bodies to become signatories to the Declaration and demonstrate their steadfast commitment to achieving gender equality.

The decision to make the opening of the Declaration for signature a ‘no fly’ event was taken to limit transportation-related emissions and reduce the carbon footprint of WP.6 activities. A variety of modalities, including WebEx online virtual meeting, Twitter feed and a UN live broadcast ensured that global audience was engaged in real-time with the event.

Recognition was paid to each standards body as a signatory to the Declaration on the day of the event.

Standards Bodies interested in becoming signatories, or simply seeking further information on the Declaration or the developments of the Gender-Responsive Standards Initiative, are invited to contact the Working Party on Regulatory Cooperation and Standardization Policies (WP.6).
