Events during the UNECE Sustainable Cities Week 2019 will discuss progress and challenges related to the implementation of recent international agreements such as the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the New Urban Agenda and the Geneva UN Charter for Sustainable Housing. National and local Government representatives from the fifty-six UNECE member States, as well as representatives of private sector, academia and civil society, will attend the 80th session of the UNECE Committee on Urban Development, Housing and Land Management (2-4 October 2019) and other events.

All the events during the Sustainable Cities Week are open to the public.

Roundtable of In Focus: SDG 11

     

The "In Focus: SDG 11" event includes a roundtable discussion on the successes and challenges in the
implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and other urban-related SDGs.

Celebration of World Habitat Day

     

To mark World Habitat Day, the UNECE Committee on urban Development, Housing and Land Management and its Real Estate Market Advisory Group organized a screening of the documentary “PUSH”, a film from award winning director Mr. Fredrik Gertten, investigating why we cannot afford to live in our cities anymore, highlighting the challenges in the housing markets and role of global finance in making the housing sector unsustainable.
