On Thursday, 13 November 2014, the Steering Committee of the National Policy Dialogue on Integrated Water Resources Management of Tajikistan discussed the state of water management reforms that the UNECE helped to design. Over 60 representatives of different stakeholders and donors involved in improving the water resources situation in Tajikistan attended the meeting. Steering Committee meeting was chaired by the Minister of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan, Mr. Usmonali Usmonzoda.
Important role of the Steering Committee for the Government of Tajikistan was reiterated by the decision to subordinate to it an existing governmental steering group on Water Supply and Sanitation. Representatives of governmental agencies, International Financial Institutions and donors welcomed to move which would reduce duplication and increase necessary coherence in developing the water sector in Tajikistan. With the decision, former Inter-ministerial coordinating group (IMCG) on Water Supply and Sanitation becomes a permanent working group under the NPD Steering Committee.
