More than 50 representatives of ministries and official institutions as well as other stakeholders involved, directly or not, in transboundary water management in Lebanon gathered to discuss the importance of legal frameworks for transboundary water cooperation to promote the sustainable management of transboundary waters.
Key aspects of the different legal frameworks for cooperation on shared waters were discussed at the workshop, in particular the opportunity that the global opening of the Water Convention represents for Lebanon, as well as the possible benefits and added value for Lebanon to accede to it.
The workshop was co-organized by UNECE, the Ministry of Energy and Water of Lebanon and GWP-Med, under the auspices of the Minister of Energy and Water and hosted by the Council of Ministers. Press release: Lebanon to consider joining UNECE Water Convention following Beirut workshop (ENG, FR)
