Since 2013, the EU and its Eastern partner countries have been closely engaged in regional projects promoting the alignment with the EU Water Framework Directive and related policies and practices. The know-how from the EU and other international best practices have successfully served to improve water management in the partner countries, with technical support from several international partners.
This event, organised on the margins to the Water Convention Meeting of the Parties (MOP10), will present success stories and lessons learned on Integrated Water Resource Management (IWRM) innovations in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova, and Ukraine. The region-wide achieved results aim to inform the global audience attending MOP10.
Meeting objectives, expected outputs and outcomes:
- Share the country-specific achievements under the EU4Environment Water and Data programme- as examples of solutions to water challenges elsewhere.
- Present results of the following selected themes: River Basin Management planning, water monitoring, financing water, good governance, and neighbourhood as well as water & health and nature-based solutions.
- Use feedback from the audience to inspire similar IWRM practices elsewhere.
- Inform on the planned follow-up action EU4Green Recovery programme, which aims to start in 2025.
Participants
The meeting will gather participants from the EaP countries, representatives of the European Commission and MOP10 participants, including IFIs and NGOs (by invitation only). Hybrid participation will be made possible on request.
