
The Permanent Mission of the Republic of Estonia and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) will jointly organize a briefing on the 9th session of the Meeting of the Parties to the Convention on the Protection and Use of Transboundary Watercourses and International Lakes (Water Convention) on Monday, 21 June 2021, 14:00 - 15:30 (CET).
The briefing will provide an overview of the topics to be discussed and decisions to be taken by the Meeting of the Parties and main expected outcomes of the session.
The 9th session of the Meeting of the Parties will be held from 29 September to 1 October 2021 as a hybrid meeting (Geneva and virtual), organized by UNECE in cooperation with Estonia.
Target audience and format of the meeting
The briefing, to be held in English, is primarily addressed to Permanent Missions to the United Nations Office at Geneva. Focal points to the Water Convention, other experts representing governmental authorities, joint bodies, non-governmental as well as international organizations and other interested stakeholders are also welcomed to participate remotely.
The meeting will take place in room XXIV of the Palais des Nations, Geneva, and in virtual format via Webex. In-person participation will be in line with the COVID-19 restrictions and measures at the time of the meeting.
