2024 Meeting - UN/LOCODE Advisory Group
Background
The UN/LOCODE Advisory Group organizes its annual meeting to deliberate on key issues and challenges regarding the sustainable maintenance and development of UN/LOCODE and efficiently utilize the limited resources to meet the rising demands of the UN/LOCODE user community.
The UN/LOCODE Advisory Group approved its Programme of Work from 2024 to 2025 and submitted it to the UN/CEFACT Plenary for endorsement to extent its mandate to a period of two years. The new Chair and Vice Chair(s) will be appointed for the UN/LOCODE Advisory Group at its 2024 meeting.
Following the decisions made at the 2023 meeting of the UN/LOCODE Advisory Group, the UN/LOCODE Task Force, led by the Vice-Chair of the UN/LOCODE Advisory Group, was launched in September 2023, aiming to address the maintenance policy issues pending for the further studies and to report on its findings and recommendations at the 2024 meeting of the UN/LOCODE Advisory Group.
Objectives and Target Audience
Objectives:
- Appoint the Chair and Vice Chair(s) of the Advisory Group for the new term.
- Report on the new developments and follow-ups concerning UN/LOCODE since the last meeting.
- Review and approve recommendations submitted by the UN/LOCODE Task Force.
- Review and approve a new organigram of the Group in which there are two sub-groups: the UN/LOCODE Maintenance Team to validate Date Maintenance Requests (DMRs), led by Chair or Vice Chair, and the UN/LOCODE Task Force to address maintenance policy issues, led by Vice Chair.
- Discuss the new issues and key challenges related to UN/LOCODE.
- Call for hosting the 2025 meeting of the UN/LOCODE Advisory Group
