UNECE provides industry with a clear and understandable overview of non-governmental and intergovernmental energy efficiency initiatives in order to help companies decide which are most suited to help them pursue energy efficiency on their own accord for business reasons.
The draft Industrial Energy Efficiency Action Plan (ECE/ENERGY/GE.6/2020/3, available in English, French and Russian) was developed by the Task Force on Industrial Energy Efficiency. It outlines the general direction for the Task Force for the period of up to 2022 and lays out a range of its activities associated with their resource requirements.
The Group of Experts on Energy Efficiency at its seventh session (22 and 25 September 2020) welcomed the proposed activities of the Task Force and thereby requested extension of its mandate for 2021–2022 (with possibility of extension). The Group of Experts also reiterated the importance of better interaction between governments, industry and supporting organizations to overcome many known, new and emerging challenges and expressed appreciation to the Task Force as a platform for supporting such a type of cooperation.
