The objective of the workshop is sharing knowledge and experience on different resource classification and estimation options, with the focus on the United Nations Framework Classification for Resources (UNFC), its basic elements, application to mineral resources (primary and secondary) as well as its status of implementation in Europe. Furthermore, a comparison of the benefits of different classifications (UNFC, CRIRSCO Template-based and KGZ (ex-Soviet Union based)) will be presented.
The Workshop will contribute significantly to the ongoing discourse surrounding the development and potential revisions of the Georgian Mining Code Act. Within these consultations, one crucial aspect under consideration pertains to the possible change of mandatory resource classification and estimation standards.
Target audience: Officials and experts from the National Agency of Mineral Resources (LEPL) and members of the State Intergovernmental Commission of Mineral Resources, including representatives of other state bodies and academia.
