Fourth meeting of the UNECE Steering Committee on Education for Sustainable Development

The fourth meeting of the UNECE Steering Committee on ESD took place in Geneva from 19 to 20 February 2009. The main objectives of the meeting were to: (i) consider the progress by countries in the implementation of the Strategy for ESD since the last meeting of the Committee, including the state-of-art in the development and implementation of the National Action Plans for ESD; (ii) consider the progress of work of the Expert Group on Indicators for ESD, including their proposal for establishing an Expert Group on competence in ESD; (iii) consider the state-of-art in addressing the issue of sustainable consumption and production through education for sustainable development; (iv) consider the input from the UNECE region into the upcoming UNESCO World Conference on ESD; and (v) consider the proposed mechanism to strengthen coordination of activities among ESD partners in the region.
