Joint Conference of WPLA, FIG and TCG

The joint conference prepared by the UNECE Working Party on Land Administration (WPLA), FIG and Technical Chamber of Greece was held in Athens from 7- 9 November 2018. The theme of the meeting was “Economy, Society and Climate Change - Current Trends and Solutions for the Built Environment, Construction Industry and Real Estate”.

The Technical Chamber of Greece, the International Federation of Surveyors, the Working Party for Land Administration of the United Nations Economic Committee of Europe, the International Union of Architects (Greek Section), and the European Council of Civil Engineers invited policy makers, senior experts, academics and all relevant professionals to bring together experiences and scientific knowledge that would impose setting up land policies and actions in the fields of sustainable land and real estate management for the humanity, the economic empowerment of the poor and for dealing with the impact of climate change and other mega-trends. The Conference major goal was the interchange of multidisciplinary ideas on the impact of the current and future mega-trends in the built environment, construction industry and real estate. Also included is the reporting on the results of the scenario study on land administration carried out by WPLA as well as developments in the domain of Smart Cities and Guidelines for formalization of informal constructions.

The conference started on Tuesday, 6 November with a welcome reception and ended with a social programme on Saturday 10 November.
