Tenth meeting of the Task Force on Public Participation in Decision-making under the Aarhus Convention will be held in Geneva on 10-11(am) October 2022. The meeting will focus on the following themes in line with decision VII/2 on promoting effective public participation in decision-making (ENG FRE RUS) adopted by the Meeting of the Parties at its seventh session (18-21 October 2021):
- Issues of a systemic nature, namely: (i) Meaningful and early public participation; (ii) The availability of all relevant documents to the public; (iii) Effective notification and time frames for public participation; and (vi) Ensuring that account is taken of comments from the public in the final decisions, and ensuring the appropriate provision of feedback on how the public’s comments have been taken into account in the decisions.
- COVID-19 and public participation: challenges and opportunities
- Public participation in decision-making on health-related issues linked to air pollution
- Public participation in decision-making on urban development/cities

Technical arrangements for the meeting
The meeting will be held in a hybrid format with onsite and remote participation. Interpretation in English, French and Russian will be available during all sessions.
The Zoom platform will be used to support the remote participation. Only registered participants will be granted access to remote participation. We recommend using the Google Chrome browser for the online meeting registration. Please ensure that you provide us with your telephone number, postal and email addresses, which can be made publicly available through the list of participants.
To ensure that you receive all important correspondence about the meeting and that the secretariat is able to make all required practical and other arrangements on time, we urge participants to register online as soon as possible, even if you hold a UNOG ground entry pass.
Participants requiring a personal invitation letter for visa purposes should click “yes” on the “visa required” option and register for the meeting as early as possible, taking into account the period required to obtain the visa. Requirements to apply for a visa to Switzerland are available here
The secretariat will be in a position to support limited number of delegates from countries with economies in transition, eligible for financial support, selected speakers and NGOs. Please indicate your request for financial support in Indico registration form by the deadline.
Representatives of Governments applying for financial support are also requested to upload in INDICO the duly signed financial support request form Kindly note that financial support request would be considered only after submission of duly filled in financial support request form and online registration through the link mentioned above.
NGO and other participants applying for financial support should indicate their request in the INDICO registration form by the deadline.

Wireless internet is available in all meeting rooms. Note that electrical power plugs and sockets are unique to Switzerland within the UNECE region (type J, three-pin, 230 V, 50 Hz), and respectively require an adaptor, though slim two-pin plugs (type C) will fit.
In addition, please note that you can drink tap water at the Palais des Nations. As there will be no drinking water served in the meeting room, we encourage delegates to bring reusable bottles or containers for tap water.

Pursuant to Rule 27 of the Rules of Procedure, and in order to facilitate interpretation and meeting proceedings, delegations willing to take the floor are requested to subscribe to the Speaker’s list by providing the secretariat with the following:
- the name of the expected speaker;
- the agenda item(s) under which the speaker is willing to intervene; and
- the text of the statement(s). Please let the secretariat know if the statement can be made publicly available prior to the meeting. Otherwise, statements will not be made publicly available and will be shared with interpreters only.

There will be opportunity to make ad hoc statements during the meeting, however, please note that due to limited time, priority will be given to those who informed the secretariat about their willingness to speak in advance of the meeting.
