For the third monitoring of SDG indicator 6.5.2, taking place in 2023/24, UNECE and UNESCO, co-custodian agencies are preparing the Third progress report on SDG indicator 6.5.2: Transboundary Water Cooperation and Climate Change – 2024.
UNECE and UNESCO organise an Expert Consultation on Transboundary Water Cooperation and Climate Change in view of the preparation of the 3rd progress report on SDG indicator 6.5.2 – 2024.
Main Objectives
- To discuss the content of the third progress report on the SDG indicator 6.5.2 particular with regards to climate change and disasters.
- To gather expert inputs on case studies and experiences in transboundary water cooperation, with a particular emphasis on climate change and extreme events. These inputs will enrich the upcoming Progress Report on SDG 6.5.2, which will have a focus on climate change.
- To contribute to the formulation of climate-related messages based on the analysis of SDG 6.5.2 Progress Report, and extracting key insights from the national reports.
- To explore how the SDG 6.5.2 process can be leveraged to better incorporate climate change and disaster risk reduction considerations into transboundary water cooperation frameworks.
