Training on Integration of Gender Aspects into Environmental Policies of Local Governments

30 September 2021 10:00 - 16:15
Serbia

This training workshop addresses local authorities and regional agencies in Serbia to support them in integrating a gender perspective into environmental policies and measures. Serbia has recently adopted a Law on Gender Equality that calls upon environmental authorities to take gender equality into consideration. According to the provisions of the law, local authorities are required to mainstream gender into their plans, projects and policies in environmental protection.

The event is part of a series of training workshops on gender mainstreaming in environmental policies supported by the UNECE Environment Division upon request of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Serbia. The first two workshops were held online and were supplemented by a toolbox ‘How to mainstream gender in environmental policy’. The main objective of the training is to raise awareness of local authorities on integration of gender aspects into environmental policies and activities. Representative from regional agencies, cities and municipalities are invited to this event.
