On 6 April 2020, UNECE, in the framework of the European Union Water Initiative Plus programme for the Eastern Partnership Countries (EUWI+), organised a course by videoconference for Georgian experts with the aim of developing national capacities in practical application of Strategic Environmental Assessments (SEA). This training session on the SEA process covered the topics of detailed evaluation of likely environmental and health impacts, formulation of mitigation measures, and preparing environmental SEA report. A total of 9 national experts involved in SEAs took part in the session, joined by international experts in a videoconference.
The European Union is continuing to support Georgia in the application of the Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) for the pilot Alazani-Iori River Basin Management Plan within the EUWI+ programme.
