At the jubilee 30th session of the Committee on Sustainable Energy held on 22-24 September in Geneva, Switzerland the UNECE Executive Secretary, Ms. Olga Algayerova, honoured a narrow list of individuals for their outstanding work and contributions to the work of the Committee over the last thirty years.
The Chair of the Group of Experts on Coal Mine Methane and Just Transition, Mr. Raymond Pilcher, had an honour to be among the selected few. He was recognized for having driven key best practice guidance on coal mine methane and abandon mine methane and for his sustained support to all UNECE Sustainable Energy Subprogramme activities.
The award for Mr. Pilcher coincided with an ECOSOC's decision recognizing the Best Practice Guidance for Effective Methane Recovery and Use from Abandoned Coal Mines (read more).
