The tool is a revision of a 2017 output of the Steering Group, which was based on the assessment templates of Denmark, France, Mexico, Turkey, USA, CIS-STAT and Eurostat.
The 2024 revision was developed based on extensive conceptual discussions on indicator availability by the Steering Group on Statistics for SDGs and was finalized by Poland, Germany, Sweden and UNECE.

The tool enables SDG statistics teams to:

  • Track availability of global, regional and national indicators.
  • Assess availability either on the indicator or series level.
  • Collect important contextual information.
  • Produce summary tables and statistics on availability.
  • Use it as a project management tool for SDGs.

The Steering Group intends to publish an addendum to the 2nd edition of the Road Map on Statistics for SDGs on indicator availability.
