In-depth review on housing statistics
The CES Bureau reviewed housing statistics in-depth in February 2009, and concluded that the lack of common definitions, procedures and guidelines hamper the work regardless of a number of initiatives ongoing at other fora.
Outcome of the review
UNECE carried out a survey on housing statistics in April-May 2009 with replies from 42 countries and three international organizations. The survey did not bring up a clear priority area for further international work, but showed the lack of harmonisation.
The Bureau decided not to establish activities in housing statistics in addition to the activities already undertaken at other fora. The Bureau may come back to the topic in the future.
