The development of policies that provide all children the best possible start in life and support a successful transition to adulthood requires robust and reliable statistics on many aspects of children’s lives. There are substantial data gaps on children, including for assessing the international commitments enshrined in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. There are also unique challenges related to the collection of data on children. We work to exchange knowledge and best practices among countries in statistics on children, with the goal of improving their availability, international comparability and use for policymaking.
