Task Team on Measuring Gender Identity

Contact person: Ms. Kristen Jeffers

Objectives:

The main purpose of the Task Team is to develop a regional networking platform on the measurement of gender identity in order to help experts in this field share information and material.

The measurement of gender identity varies significantly across countries due to their unique legal and cultural contexts, making the harmonization of methodologies difficult. Still, international collaboration can benefit countries conducting research and testing in this area. The Task Team will compile material on terminology, questions used in surveys and censuses, and resources on other activities related to the measurement of gender identity and make them available to experts in an online repository.

The Task Team takes forward work carried out in a January 2019 CES Bureau in-depth review of measuring gender identity, based on a paper by Canada and the United Kingdom.
