The preparation of the new work plan was accompanied by a discussion on the Group’s future direction and focus of its activities. The Group decided to request the Committee on Sustainable Energy to change its name to Group of Experts on Coal Mine Methane and Just Transition and expand its mandate accordingly. The issue is to be decided by the Committee at its 30th session in November 2021. The session ended with the eleventh joint meeting of the Group of Experts on CMM and the Global Methane Initiative (GMI) Coal Subcommittee.
