Workshop on transboundary environmental impact assessment procedure in Kazakhstan

Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is internationally recognized instrument that helps to integrate environmental and health considerations in economic development activities and decision making and facilitates the process of transition to a green economy. 

Upon request of the Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, UNECE together with the OSCE Program Office in Nur-Sultan organized the workshop on transboundary environmental impact assessment procedure in the framework of technical assistance provided to the Republic of Kazakhstan in 2021 on enhancing the national capacity to effectively develop and implement modern EIA system in the country in line with international standards, including the Espoo Convention.

The aim of the workshop is to raise awareness and strengthen the capacity of national officials to effectively implement transboundary environmental impact assessment procedure in line with the Espoo Convention and the new Environmental Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
