The TIR Executive Board (TIRExB), a subsidiary body of the TIR Administrative Committee (AC.2), supervises and provides support in the application of the TIR procedure at the national and international level. It is composed of 9 members, each from a different Contracting Party to the TIR Convention, who are elected for a two year term of office.
At its fifty-seventh session (Geneva, 6 February 2014), the Committee was informed of the resignation of two members of the Board, viz, Mrs. Anna Dubielak (Poland) and Mr. Konstantin Syaskov (Russian Federation). In line with the mandate given by AC.2, the UNECE secretariat is soliciting herewith candidates willing to stand for election for the two vacant seats in the TIRExB (See ECE/TRANS/WP.30/AC.2/117, paras 31-35). The election will take place on Thursday, 12 June 2014, in the course of the fifty-eighth session of AC.2, in accordance with the established procedure (TRANS/WP.30/AC.2/59, paras. 24-27).
The UNECE secretariat would appreciate receiving nominations from candidates who wish to stand for election as member of the TIRExB. Nominations should be made by the candidate's government or organization being Contracting Party to the TIR Convention. For details, please refer to AC.2 Informal Document No. 7 (2014) (English, French and Russian). The replacement member shall only hold office for the remainder of the term of office of the current TIRExB composition (viz. until the next elections in February 2015).
The name and present function of the candidate your Government may wish to nominate, together with a detailed curriculum vitae of the nominated candidate, should be received by the UNECE secretariat at the latest on 15 April 2014 (Attention: Mr. Miodrag Pesut, Office 402-4, Palais des Nations, CH-1211 Geneva 10; e-mail: ; fax: +41-22-917-0039). Following receipt of the names of candidates, the UNECE secretariat will circulate, on 16 April 2014, a list of all nominated candidates to the Contracting Parties to the Convention. No further candidates may be nominated following the issuance of this list by the UNECE secretariat.
Please make sure that the nomination letter includes a phrase confirming that your government agrees to finance the work of your member of the TIR Executive Board (if elected), in accordance with the provisions of Explanatory Note 8.13.1-2 of the Convention.
