Mission to Washington DC, USA

The Special Envoy travelled to Washington DC from 26 June to 28 June 2022 to strengthen the Friends of the Special Envoy and mobilize stakeholders in the US Capitol, especially around the HLM on road safety. He met with the following colleagues at the WB to discuss key priorities and initiatives in Latin America, Africa and South Asia, such as Safe and Affordable Helmets, the Road Safety Campaign with JCDecaux and UN vehicle regulations.

Moreover, the Special Envoy met with the following Government officials and partners to strengthen road safety efforts in the United States of America, update on the HLM and widen the road safety friends network. 

•    H.E. Mr. Richard Hudson, House of Representatives Republican Conference Secretary; 
•    H.E. Mr. Philippe Etienne, Ambassador of France; 
•    H.E. Ms. Mariangela Zappia, Ambassador of Italy; 
•    Mr. Luis Moreno, Managing Director, Allen & Co.

 

The Ambassador of Italy hosted a Friends for Road Safety Network, gathering government, private sector and diplomatic community to increase awareness on road safety. The Special Envoy highlighted the significance of the HLM, encouraged increased support for the UNRSF and recommended increased US engagement on road safety at the global stage.
