14 July 2007
The UNECE secretariat, in cooperation with the TIR Executive Board, is organizing a Training seminar on the approval and control of TIR vehicles to be held on 24 September 2007 in Geneva (room XII), in conjunction with the 117th session of the UNECE Working Party on Customs Questions affecting Transport (WP.30).
The Seminar aims at capacity building of competent authorities to facilitate a more effective implementation of the relevant provisions of the TIR Convention. It is designed for senior officials responsible for the approval and control of TIR vehicles, but it is also open to officials responsible for customs and transport policies as well as to private companies using customs transit procedures. The Seminar will include presentations by distinguished customs experts as well as by representatives of private sector and the UNECE secretariat. More detail can be found in a provisional programme.
Each participant will receive a free copy of the TIR Handbook and other training materials. English, French and Russian will be the working languages. Full simultaneous interpretation from/into these languages will be provided. Participation is free of charge for registered participants, but participants are expected to make their own travel arrangements and cover their travel costs, accommodation and other personal expenses. Each participant must as soon as possible register with the UNECE secretariat using a registration form.
Should you require more information, please contact the UNECE secretariat: Palais des Nations, Office 400, CH 1211 Geneva 10, Switzerland; tel.: +41 22-917 2455 or 1531, fax: +41-22-917 0614 or 0039; e-mail: [email protected] or [email protected].
