Project description:
This project aims to build capacities in UNECE member states for sustainable resource management by further developing and implementing UNFC and UNRMS. These frameworks provide a harmonized approach for resource classification and management, critical for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Objectives:
- Supporting further development and maintenance of UNFC.
- Supporting the development and maintenance of UNRMS
- Supporting the implementation of UNFC for sustainable resource management, including UNRMS
- Fostering the application of UNFC and UNRMS to support energy resilient systems and the energy transition
Project activities:
- Further develop and maintain UNFC specifications for a unified, comparable, interoperable and harmonized system for resource assessment;
- Develop and maintain UNFC application guidelines for classification of multiple resources;
- Develop and maintain UNFC best practices for resource classification;
- Develop UNFC case studies at country and corporate levels;
- Develop and maintain the fundamental principles of sustainable resource management;
- Develop and maintain the concepts and terminology for sustainable resource management;
- Develop and maintain the structure and specifications of UNRMS;
- Develop and maintain data, information and knowledge standards and guidelines for UNRMS;
- Supporting the implementation of UNFC for sustainable resource management, including UNRMS
- Facilitate UNFC deployment activities across the UNECE region for administrative, statistical, corporate and financial purposes;
- Coordinate, monitor, review, assess and evaluate UNFC implementation efforts across the UNECE region;
- Facilitate the creation of networks of UNFC experts through webinars, virtual and in-person workshops and training courses, conduct awareness raising and capacity-building workshops on UNFC/UNRMS in the UNECE region for local administrations and expert communities and facilitate the participation of experts in EGRM-related activities and events;
- Develop and disseminate training materials, UNFC- and UNRMS-based toolkits to support the establishment of capacity and knowledge foundations for different stakeholders (governments, experts, financial sector, industry);
Fostering the application of UNFC and UNRMS to support energy resilient systems and the energy transition - Facilitate the application of UNFC in relation to critical raw materials value chains in the UNECE region and beyond. Development of training materials to support the establishment of capacity and knowledge foundations for UNFC and UNRMS;
- Develop and disseminate UNFC- and UNRMS-based toolkits for sustainable management of resources to support the energy transition;
- Support the coordination by EGRM of International Centres of Excellence on Sustainable Resource Management (ICE-SRM), aimed at facilitating the dissemination of policy tools and reporting codes to relevant national and regional stakeholders;
- Communication to relevant stakeholders through different dissemination channels (website, social media, workshops, training courses) in the UNECE region and beyond.
