Hungary: A high income country with a population of 9.74 million. Hungary has 42 road deaths per 1 million population, which is the 11th highest rate in the European Union. The country saw a nineteen percent reduction in road traffic fatalities and injuries from 2011-2019. Hungary is a contracting party to all UN Legal Conventions and has strict laws concerning speeding and drink-driving.
The Special Envoy met with the following government officials to advocate for Hungary to support national and regional road safety efforts, update on the HLM and thank the Government for the yearly contributions to the UNRSF.

The Special Envoy also met with the UN Country Team in Hungary and the Road Safety NGOs in Budapest.
