The national seminar was organized to discuss the draft results of a technical advice project on SEA in Belarus. The technical advice consists of (a) a review of the present national legislation and institutional structure; and (b) of development of recommendations for required legislative amendments to implement the Protocol on SEA.

The technical advice is part of a project organized by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus, UNEP, UNDP and UNECE in the framework of the Environment and Security Initiative (EnvSec) project  “Managing Environmental Security Risks with EIA and SEA”, and the “Greening economies in the Eastern Neighbourhood” (EaP GREEN) Programme.
