"Pollutant Release And Transfer Registers: An Efficient Tool For Sustainable Water Management"

The secretariat of the Protocol on Pollutant Release and Transfer Registers (PRTRs) to the UNECE Convention on Access to Information, Public Participation in Decision-making and Access to Justice in Environmental Matters (Aarhus Convention) in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment Protection of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the National Aarhus Centre of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the OSCE invite shared experiences on the benefits for sustainable water management of exercising the right to know through implementing the Protocol on Pollutant Release and Transfer Registers and discussed the challenges ahead.
 
The event promoted the implementation of PRTRs and the ratification of the PRTR Protocol within the UNECE and beyond as an efficient tool towards achieving a sustainable management of water and water-related ecosystems. A panel of experts presented the benefits of implementing PRTRs to achieve these aims.
