UNECE is continuing to support Belarus in the application of the Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) for the draft national Strategy of Water Resources Management in the context of Climate Change for the period until 2030 within the EUWI+ programme. The draft SEA scoping report has recently been presented to governmental entities and the general public for an open consultation and now the preparations for the next stage of the SEA process are ongoing.
With the aim to further develop national capacities in practical application of SEA, a second training session on next stages of the SEA process was organized that covered topics of potential environmental and health effects evaluation, alternative planning options, development of mitigation and monitoring measures, preparation of an environmental SEA report. A total of 7 national experts undertaking the SEA took part in the training joined by international experts through videoconference facilities.
The event was organized by the UNECE with funding from the European Union Water Initiative Plus programme for the Eastern Partnership Countries (EUWI+).
