The United Nations Framework Classification for Resources (UNFC) is a system to compare resource projects across all resource types.  Projects are assessed in their environmental-social-economic viability, technical feasibility and risks. UNFC is being extended as a United Nations Resource Management System (UNRMS) with sustainable management of natural resources as its focus. UNRMS will be a comprehensive sustainable resource management system that is expected to be future-facing and support stakeholders in various goals, including aiding food-water-energy security the progress towards a circular economy. The key goal of UNRMS will be to support the United Nations Decade of Action (2020–2030) for accelerating sustainable solutions for resource management. These actions are now being supported by the European Commission in line with the objectives of the European New Green Deal.
