Coal Mine Methane

The session opened on 24 October with elections for the Bureau of the Group. The rest of the day featured the seventh joint meeting of the UNECE Group of Experts on Coal Mine Methane (CMM) and the Global Methane Initiative (GMI) Coal Subcommittee. On 25 October, the Group addressed cross-cutting activities conducted under the Committee on Sustainable Energy, the project on transformation of the energy sector, progress in carrying out the deliverables of the 2016-2017 work cycle, including the status of implementation of the extrabudgetary project on Dissemination of best practices in the abatement, recovery, and use of methane, and the status and activities of the International Centres of Excellence on CMM in Poland and in China. The Group additionally reviewed its work plan for 2018-2019 and discussed its implementation.
