The Economic Cooperation and Trade Division of the United Nations Economic Commission of Europe (UNECE) is undertaking a capacity-building project titled ‘Strengthening the capacity of the Kyrgyzstan National Trade Facilitation Council to implement the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement’.

The objective of the project is to enhance knowledge and technical capacities of policymakers and experts of the National Trade Facilitation Council, regulatory agencies and other relevant stakeholders to effectively implement trade facilitation policies and priority measures under Category C of the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA). It is also expected to improve access of traders to information related to trade regulations and procedures.

The official launch of the project was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and travel restrictions. Hence the project launching meeting was organized virtually between the UNECE trade facilitation team, and the representatives of the Ministry of Economy, the Kyrgyz Republic and the Kyrgyz Economic University.
